James "Jim" V. Meredith, age 84, of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born in Miller County on November 3, 1928, son of the late Walter and Oma (Whittle) Meredith. On November 25, 1949, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, Jim married Laura Louise Alexander, who preceded him in death on January 3, 2007.

Jim served in the United States Air Force from November 1951 until his honorable discharge in September 1955. Jim taught Industrial Arts for Washington School for five years and later at Iberia R-V from 1962 until his retirement in 1991.

Jim was an active member of Crocker Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter Danné Hall and husband Loren of Dixon; three grandchildren, Brandon Hall and wife Jennifer of Iberia, Zachary Hall of Iberia, and Meredith Hall of Dixon; two great-granddaughters, Kylie Hall and Emma Hall; and one sister, Maxine Catron of Springfield.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Paralee Son.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., with a visitation prior from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 21, at Waynesville Church of Christ. Bro. Gerry Anderson will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Freedom Cemetery near Dixon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Bible Institute of Missouri or to the Waynesville Church of Christ.
