James Lee Phillips, age 84, of Brumley, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Osage Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on August 31, 1940, son of the late Sidney and Faye (Rodden) Phillips.  In 1969, James was united in marriage to Patsy Jean (Sons) Phillips, who survives at their home.

James never knew a stranger. Friends and neighbors could count on his genuine advice and willingness to help, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.  He had a passion for hunting and especially enjoyed his hunting trips to Colorado.  In addition to farming cattle and pigs, he also owned and operated a taxidermy company, which brought him great joy.  James was a member of the Brumley Christian Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Patsy Phillips, he is also survived by his son, Mitchell Phillips and wife Tara; two grandchildren, Jamison Phillips and Jayde Phillips; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Faye Phillips, grandparents, and sister, Loretta Kay.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., with a Memorial Service immediately following at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, July 29, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Weston Ash officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
