James Lee Shelton, Sr., age 77, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born on October 30, 1948, son of the late Hubert James and Marie (Moore) Shelton. On January 23, 1970, in Iberia, James was united in marriage to Kathryn “Kathy” Lorene Wall, who preceded him in death on September 16, 2018.
He was employed as a supervisor with LB Manufacturing for over 40 years, where he was known for his dedication and steady work ethic. James enjoyed traveling, especially the opportunity to see new places and share memorable experiences with those he loved. He also had a passion for sports and gave many years of his time to managing the Khoury League, where he shared his love of the game with others.
James’ greatest joy was found in the love of his family and his beloved dog, Charlotte. He cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren deeply, and the time he spent with them was among the most precious gifts of his life
He is survived by his daughter, Kristi Rodden and husband Jamie Dean; son, Jamie Shelton; two granddaughters, Jana Sasseen and husband Jared and Mariah Thornton and husband Triston; great-grandchildren, Akadia Thornton, Brian Sasseen, and Emmett Thornton; two sisters, Ina Henson and Linda (Karl) Sears; special “daughter”, Mindy (Scott) Thompson and their son, William; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Williams.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with funeral service immediately following at 12 (noon), on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Chip Sanders officiating. Interment will be held in Madden Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Madden Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
