James "Junior" Wheat, age 71, of St. Elizabeth, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on March 14, 1937, in Jefferson City, son of Arthur and Mary (Wagner) Wheat. On September 4, 2004, he was married to Janette Kay (Humphrey) Campbell, who survives.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed country music and was a devoted husband.
Other survivors include two stepchildren, Brenda Duncan and J. R. Campbell both of Iberia; three step grandchildren, Shanda Duncan, Chad Duncan, and Bradley Duncan all of Iberia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Louis, Charles, and Edward Wheat; and two sisters, Dorothy Bryan and Anna Marie Dusheke.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, at Hickory Hill Cemetery. Rev. Ryan Haider will officiate.
