James Max Wilson, age 85, of Florissant, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis. He was born in Iberia, on January 28, 1931, son of the late James Preston and Edith (Shelton) Wilson.
James served as Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1960. He spent most of his career in the savings and loan field.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Beth (Pemberton) Wilson of the home; one daughter, Lisa Hawley; one son, James Brian Wilson and wife Kathy; five grandchildren, Sara Byers (A.J.), Rebecca Hawley, Matthew Hawley (Stacy), Jennifer Wilson, and James Alexander Wilson; four great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Kaitlyn Byers and Drew and Hudson James Hawley; two sisters, Ina Wilson and Barbara Burnett; and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, June Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 9, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment with military honors will be held in Williams Cemetery near Iberia.
