Janet Sue Cochran, age 69, of Brumley, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Waynesville on September 28, 1948, daughter of Chester Jones and Willa Jo Ballenger. On June 21, 1968, Janet married Roger Dale Cochran, who survives.
She is also survived by her father, Chester Jones of Decaterville; five children, Garrie McGrath of Richland, Jackie Hall of Columbia, Beth Vasquez and husband Freddie of Richland, Rogetta Meyer and husband Travis of Brumley, and Mary Steele of Brumley; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three siblings; several nieces, nephews, family and friends; and many who thought of her as a mother.
She was preceded in death her mother, Willa Jo Ballenger; Bob and Joan Ballenger who raised her; one granddaughter, Abigail Meyer; five siblings; her grandparents, and two sons-in-law, Jim Hall and Rick Nelson.
Janet was baptized in the Church of Christ faith and was a member of Glover Chapel Church of Christ in Richland. She worked at Stantons at the Lake for many years. She also worked as a housekeeper and in-home healthcare for many years in the Lake area.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Wednesday, January 24, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be held in Freedom Cemetery in Montreal.
