Janis Lawson, age 77, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Miller County on April 23, 1940, daughter of the late Herbert and Flossie (Lewis) Livingston. On July 5, 1955, in Iberia, Janis married Donald C. Lawson, who preceded her in death on September 27, 2007.
She worked at Scholastic in Jefferson City for many years. Janis was a faithful member of the Iberia Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Donald James Lawson of Springfield and Rick Lawson of Sparta; one daughter, Jeanne Amos of Brumley; 9 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Powell of Iberia, Donna Welch of Osage Beach, and Elizabeth Cook of Osage Beach; and one brother, Frank Flaugher of Iberia.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; and step-mother, Helen Livingston; one sister, Dolores Grady; two brothers, Herb Livingston and William Flaugher, two step-sisters, Barbara Hawk and Mary Ann Miller; one granddaughter, Joelle Lawson.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., with services immediately following at 6 p.m., on Thursday, January 18, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Hickory Point Cemetery.
