Jean Parkison, age 79, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Miller County on April 26, 1933, daughter of the late Okie and Colena (Hagan) Simpson. On November 1, 1951, Jean married James Walter Parkison, who preceded her in death on October 31, 2010.
Jean and her husband Jim, were foster parents for many years in California and Missouri. She was a past member of Honey Springs Baptist Church and had recently attended the Iberia Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two children, Kathy O'Connor of San Diego, California and Lisa Graham and husband Lance of Ulman; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Jimmy Parkison, Diana Parkison, and Kimberly Toussaint; and five siblings.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m., on Sunday, January 6, at Iberia Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date in the Eldon Cemetery.
