Obituary

Jeannette "Jeannie" Mary (Scheulen) Ripka, age 71, of Meta, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born at her parent's home in Meta on October 7, 1947, daughter of the late George Hubert and Elizabeth Marie (Schaffer) Scheulen. On November 28, 1964, in Tuscumbia, Jeannie married Darrell Gene Ripka, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2002.

Jeannie worked with her husband at their charcoal mill, saw mill and on their family farm. She loved all animals, especially her dogs. She enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, shopping, and doing crafts. Jeannie was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Babbtown, was a member of the ladies' aid and was a beloved Sunday School teacher. She also served as a board member of COMM-Unity ambulance in Meta.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Joe Stumpe; three grandchildren, Ryan Stumpe (Hailey) of Meta, Breanna Stumpe and Shania Stumpe both of Pacific; three sisters, Geraldine Berry (Gerald) of Dixon, Dianna Schubert (Ron) of Meta, Linda Pace (David) of Holts Summit; four brothers, Raymond Scheulen (Sherri) of Kila, MT, Daniel Scheulen of Meta, Richard Scheulen of Meta, and Melvin Scheulen (Beverly) of Meta; sister-in-law, Donna Kaye Moss and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Scheulen; husband, Darrell Ripka; son, David Ripka; daughter, Melinda "Susie" Stumpe; one sister, Genevieve Branch; one brother, Kenneth "Dick" Scheulen; and sister-in-law, Donna Jean Scheulen.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Babbtown with Pastor Gerald Scheperle officiating. Interment will be held in Stokes Cemetery near Van Cleve next to her husband and son.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, April 3, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
