Jennings Eugene Barnett, age 92, of Lake Ozark, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Osage Beach Health Care Center. He was born in Iberia on May 3, 1918, son of the late Owen and Della (Whittle) Barnett.
He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, a Shriner, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Waynesville, and a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167. Jennings was a past member of the Dixon First Christian Church and recently attended Montreal Church of Christ.
He is survived by five children; Donald Barnett and wife Judy of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sharon Sooter of Rolla, Ricky Barnett and wife Lynn of Florissant, Michael Barnett and wife Melissa of Dixon, and Jennifer Wallace and husband Mike of Kansas City; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; best friend and loving companion, Edith Evans Jackson; her children, Lisa Wensel and husband Kirk of Dallas, Texas, Tammy Jackson and fiancé Jim of Lake Ozark, and Donald Jackson II and wife Irma of El Paso, Texas; he was known as Grandpa Jay to Edith's five grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Barnett and wife Jean of Iberia; and one sister, Geraldine Dake of Iberia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Barnett and Elzie Barnett; one sister, Imogene Riemensnider; one infant daughter, Lisa Renee; and one son-in-law, Robert L. Sooter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Elton Dake will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Iberia.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, June 28, at the funeral home.
