Jennings Ewell McKee, age 93, of Iberia, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, at his home. He was born near Iberia on June 23, 1918, son of the late William Albert and Mary Emeline (Humphrey) McKee. On June 23, 1940, in Salem, Jennings married Lucille Walker, who preceded him in death on December 15, 1996. In July of 1999, Jennings married Prue Humphrey, who preceded him in death on April 13, 2011.

Jennings was a science teacher, coach, and administrator for 36 years, the last 10 years he served as Superintendent at Bunceton. He also served as Principal and Superintendent at Iberia. He also worked at Tuscumbia, Crocker, Eugene, and Vienna schools. The highlight of his coaching career was in 1954 when he took his Vienna Basketball team to state. He was entered in Who's Who in Missouri Education in 1975. In 1978 the Missouri State Teachers Association presented him with a plaque for "Outstanding Service to the Cause of Education in Missouri.

He was selected to appear in "Personalities of the West and Midwest" in 1969 in recognition of outstanding service to the community and state

He was a member of the Iberia Lodge 410 A F & A since 1948, York Rite at Jefferson City, Scottish Rite at Columbia, Shrine at Ararat in Kansas City, and the Iberia Eastern Star. He was presented a plaque from Bunceton Missouri Lions Club for outstanding and distinguished service to their club as Secretary from 1976-1980. He was also presented a plaque for "Lion of the Year", 1978-1979.

Jennings was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church since 1931, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Class Teacher, and Elder.

He is survived by one son, Robert McKee and wife Laverne of Bunceton; one daughter, Linda Fritchey of Iberia; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Mace and Phyllis Dean Summer.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia. Rev. Roy Gilkey will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., on Friday July 1, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
