Jerry K. Sykes, age 72, of Barnett, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at his home. He was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on October 14, 1934, a son of the late Jessie Lee and Florence May (Lambert) Sykes. On September 16, 1959, in Winterhaven, California, he was married to Jean Pearce, who survives at the home.

Jerry was a member of Local Union 229. He had a great sense of humor and loved people.

Others who survive him include: six children, Linda Solis and husband Rolondo of Bluffton, South Carolina, Michael Pollock of Fort Meyers, Florida, Jennifer Connell and husband Marion of Eldon, John Morgan Sykes and wife Melinda of Barnett, Moya Sykes of Lebanon and Rainey Sykes of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Jennill Evers, Pennell Mistler, Jessie Roam, Heather Crawford, Amber Crawford, Anna Sykes, David Taylor, Billy Sykes and John Sykes; two great grandchildren, Matthew Crawford and Aiden Roam; one sister, Estella Duncan of San Diego, California and one brother, Luke Sykes of San Diego, California.

Four brothers, Floyd Elmer, John, Paul and Harry Sykes, also preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Pastor Ron Hess will officiate. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett. Visitors are welcome to join the family at the Sykes home after the interment.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Community Hospices of America or the Salvation Army.
