Joe D. Rowden, age 82, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on November 27, 1942, son of the late Charley and Pauline (Berry) Rowden. On December 22, 1975, Joe was united in marriage to Brenda Bax, who survives at their home.
Joe was well known for his lifelong love of baseball. During his younger years, Joe pursued his love for baseball, playing in the minor leagues for the Baltimore Orioles. During his time in the minors, Joe played against some of the best, including pitching against Pete Rose. Whether coaching his sons' little league teams or cheering on his grandchildren from the stands, Joe was always his family's biggest fan and supporter on and off the field.
He had a passion for the outdoors where he worked tirelessly on his family farm and tended to his bountiful garden. He enjoyed cooking and barbequing for family gatherings, bringing everyone together in the yard under the shade trees. Joe shared a love for hunting and trapping with his children and grandchildren, creating countless memories and lessons throughout the years. Beyond the farm and ballfields, he dedicated many years of his life to a distinguished career with the Missouri Department of Transportation.
In addition to his loving wife, Brenda Rowden, he is also survived by four sons, Travis (Tina) Eichelberger, Troy Eichelberger, Matt (Nikki) Rowden and Monte (Sherry) Rowden; daughter, Jada (Mike) Shipp; 16 grandchildren, Hayden, London, Laken, Andrea, Clyde, Cade, Drew, Lilli, Charlie, Lizzie, Tucker, Wes, Keaton, Chase, Oliver, and Ellena; great-grandchildren; nephew, Jeff Jarrett; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Pauline Rowden, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Lois Jarrett; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Eichelberger.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Joe Rowden Memorial Fund. Donations will be thoughtfully distributed among various organizations that were meaningful to Joe and his family. The family would appreciate for you to keep the sick and caregivers in your thoughts and prayers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
