Joel Allen Holtmeyer, age 74, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. He was born in Sanford, Florida on November 30, 1942, son of the late Frank Conrad and Ruby Louise (Haigwood) Holtmeyer. On October 4, 1986, in St. Elizabeth, Joel married Dianne Gertrude Luebbert, who survives at the home.
Joel graduated from St. Elizabeth R-IV in 1960. After high school he served and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve. He worked at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis and later owned and operated Joe's 52 in St. Elizabeth for many years. Joel was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.
In addition to his loving wife, Dianne, he is also survived by one son, Matthew Holtmeyer and wife Whitney of Iberia; two grandchildren Grayson and Landry Holtmeyer both of Iberia; four brothers, Simmie Holtmeyer and wife Rosemary of Jefferson City, Frank Holtmeyer and wife Laverne of St. Elizabeth, Lawrence Holtmeyer and wife Diana of St. Elizabeth, and Harry Holtmeyer of St. Elizabeth; and three sisters, Delores Boys and husband Don of Lake Ozark, Donna Tobey and husband Randy of Marble Falls, Texas, and Alice Holtmeyer of Lake Ozark.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert "R.J." Holtmeyer and Johnny Ray Holtmeyer and one sister-in-law, Sharon Holtmeyer.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Fr. Joby Thomas will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
