John Monroe "Jocko" Bailey, age 57, of Tuscumbia, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at his home. He was born in Decatur, Illinois, on November 7, 1949, son of Marion and Velma (McPherson) Bailey. His mother survives in Bethany, Illinois. On April 29, 1967, in St. Louis, he was married to Sondra Evans, who survives at the home.
He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam.
Other survivors include two sons, John Bailey Jr., and Paul Bailey both of Tuscumbia; one daughter, Bethany Wright of Stoneford, Illinois; three sisters, Carol Burtcheard of Sullivan, Illinois, Linda Adams of Arcola, Illinois, and Lisa Spracklen of Bethany, Illinois; one brother, Jeff Bailey of Bethany, Illinois; three grandsons, Jonathan Bailey of Tuscumbia and Luke Wright and Jake Wright both of Stoneford, Illinois; one granddaughter, Kaitlin Plemmons of Iberia; one great grandson, Xander Baxter of Iberia; and ten nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Brian Jarrett will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
