John David Downing, age 61, of Brumley, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home.  He was born in Lebanon, on August 9, 1961, son of the late Paul and Ruth (Crall) Downing.

John worked as a carpenter for over 35 years, crafting countless projects throughout his career.  He loved watching football and enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, shooting guns, and playing cornhole.  On October 5, 2022, John was saved by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by three children, Michael Downing and wife Nichole, Jenny Alexander and husband Brett, and Charity Benefiel and husband Jim; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home with Brett Alexander officiating.  Interment will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
