John Fred Hill Sr., age 86, of Crocker, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, at his home. He was born in Bath, Ohio, on April 8, 1932, son of the late Fred and Ida Hill.
John honorably served in the military for 21 years and 3 months. He served with the color guard for President Truman and was a member of the Crocker VFW and the Cobra Special Police Force in Vietnam. He worked in law enforcement for many years with the Miller County Sherriff's office and served as the Iberia Chief of Police.
He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Pemberton and husband Darrell of Iberia and Kathy Neuman and husband Pat of Dixon; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hill of Iberia; four grandchildren, Darren Pemberton and wife Alex, Trevor Plemmons, Arron Hill and wife Reyna, and Danielle Seel and husband Jeremy; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Plemmons, Jordan Plemmons, Natalie Plemmons, Logan Seel, and Kinley Seel; and Victoria Hill; two sisters, Mary Hill and Virginia Baugman; half-brother, Richard "Dick" Wine; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Fred Hill Jr. and three brothers, Art Wine, Mike Hill, and Pat Hill.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Friday, October 12, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Homes in Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Crocker VFW.
