John T. "Jay" Potter, age 57, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2024, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Pensacola, FL, on April 12, 1967, son of John and Donna (Callis) Kronquist. On October 5, 1987, in McKinney, Texas, John was united in marriage to Darla Kay Stiles, who survives at their home.
Jay was a master carpenter. He had a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger and was always willing to help others in need. John was a music lover who affectionately earned the nickname "man of music". He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
In addition to his wife, Darla Potter, and parents, John and Donna Kronquist, he is also survived by his daughter, Emily Tart; seven grandchildren, Hagen Ahart, Layne Ahart, Garrett Ahart, Waylon Ahart, Lyla Ahart, Kadence Tart, and Marshall Tart; two sisters, Bethann Murray and Kendyl Glanz; two brothers, Mitchell Potter and Larry Comadoll; his faithful canine companion, Callie; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Riley Ahart; brother, Tony Potter; sister, Patty Herrin; grandmothers, Johnie Mae Callis-Craig and Ella Lucille White; and his best friend, Tim Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the Crocker VFW.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the John Potter Memorial Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
