John Vernon Veasman, age 90, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in St. Louis on November 7, 1922, son of the late George "Fred" and Elizabeth (Wenzel) Veasman. On November 23, 1946, in Brinktown, John married Mildred Margaret Wilson, who preceded him in death on January 3, 2008.

John served as an aeronautical engineer in the United States Army Air Force during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the service he worked for General Motors in St. Louis for 17 years. John and his wife Mildred later moved to St. Elizabeth where they farmed together for 50 years.

John was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

He is survived by two brothers, Claude Veasman and wife Bernice and Donley Veasman and wife Charlotte both of Brinktown; one sister, Agnes Wilson of St. Louis; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Lough and Virginia Ripka and husband Bill both of St. Louis.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward Veasman and one sister, Eugenia Rowden.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Ben Nwosu will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
