Jonathan "Jon" Peter
Kempker
May 23, 1980 – May 16, 2026
Jonathan “Jon” Peter Kempker, age 45, of Jefferson City, formerly of Mary’s Home, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home. He was born in Jefferson City on May 23, 1980, son of the late August “Gus” Kempker and Delores (Osterman) Kempker.
The youngest of 5 brothers, Jon learned early on to hold his own. He loved to laugh and make others laugh by finding humor in the smallest things. He had deep bond and love for his family and held a strong faith in Jesus. He will be remembered for his quick wit, warm spirit, and sense of humor. Jon loved caring for others, especially his sister, Paula, before her death and he was always a constant for his mother, Dee, picking her up whenever she fell.
Jon found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially playing the guitar, fishing, rock hunting along the bank of the Osage River, and cooking for family gatherings using every spice and seasoning in the cabinet. He never used a recipe just created wonderful food that was typical Jon food, good and plenty. These moments reflected the heart of who he was—a man who loved being outdoors, sharing time with those he cared about, and creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Delores Kempker; six siblings, Chris (Bertha) Kempker, Jim (Angie) Kempker, Nick (Karen) Kempker, Ben (Julie) Kempker, Matt (Sara) Kempker, and Katie (Wes Oligschlaeger) Kempker; brother-in-law, Wendell Tyler; honorary brother, Shawn Etter; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, August “Gus” Kempker; step-mother, Mary Kempker; sister, Paula Tyler; grandparents, August H. and Teresa Kempker and Peter and Matilda Osterman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
