Obituary

Joseph Paul Glawson, age 74, of Richland, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home. He was born in St. Louis on February 9, 1943, son of the late Joseph Arnie and Eleanor Faith (Huff) Glawson. On November 12, 1976, in Richland, Joe married Karen Lee Bedinghaus, who survives at their home.

Joe served in the Marines from July 6, 1960 until his honorable discharge on April 30, 1963. Joe was a member of the Masons in Iberia, Abo Ben Adhem Shriners of Springfield, lifetime member of Laquey VFW and was a past member of the American Legion in Richland.

Joe retired from Fort Leonard Wood after 30 years of service and later worked with his son, Joseph, at Glawson Incorporation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his loving wife, Karen Glawson, he is also survived by four children, Sherri Nixon and husband Rick of Texas, Christy Siguenza and husband Al of Joplin, Jennifer Carter and husband Dave of Bethesda, Maryland, and Joseph Matthew Glawson and wife Carrie of Richland; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Alan Glawson and wife Sherry and Keith Glawson and wife Susan both of Tuscumbia; and one sister, Susan Neal and husband Tom of Linn Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Faith Glawson and one son, Robert Glawson.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Masonic and funeral services at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Charlie Worstell will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Iberia Cemetery.
