Joseph H. Kaiser, age 94, of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born in St. Thomas on October 31, 1921, son of the late Gustave and Minnie (Schroer) Kaiser. On February 23, 1946, in Kansas City, Joseph married Teresa (Jurgensmeyer), who survives. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past February.
Joseph was a lifetime resident of St. Thomas. He and his wife, Teresa, raised their children there and worked on their family farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed bowling in a league in St. Thomas for several years. He loved being surrounded by his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph was a member of St. Thomas Knights of Columbus and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas.
In addition to his loving wife, Teresa (Jurgensmeyer) Kaiser, he is also survived by six sons, Alfred (Margie) Kaiser, David (Gayle) Kaiser, Arthur (Linda) Kaiser, Eugene Kaiser, Roger Kaiser, and Michael (Patricia) Kaiser; one daughter Terri (Dale) Luebbering; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Paul Kaiser and Ryan Kaiser; one great-grandson, Brayden Kaiser; four brothers, and four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Fr. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Friday, September 16, at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Masses or to St. Thomas Catholic Church.
