IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph "Jj"
Smolich
August 6, 2006 – December 21, 2023
Joseph "JJ" Smolich, age 17, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his home. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 6, 2006.
JJ attended Iberia R-V and was currently enrolled in the culinary program at Waynesville Career Center. He had a heart of gold with an adventurous and curious spirit. JJ enjoyed exploring new areas and was a master at restoring items around the house. He had an abundant love for animals and a special place in his heart for his cat, Oreo. He had a passion for fishing, classic cars, and in his spare time he enjoyed helping his dad with projects, playing video games, legos, and watching scary movies. JJ was employed in the dietary department as a dish steward at H. Toads in Camden on the Lake Resort. Because of JJ's strong work ethic and his dedication to his job he was awarded employee of the month twice during his career.
As his sister's biggest cheerleader in life, he would often be found at her softball games giving his support in her ventures, and off the field he would help her practice by playing catch and even playing a fun game of kickball.
He is survived by his parents, Sarah and Jacob Luttrell; sister, Shauntee Mae Luttrell; grandparents, Billy Luttrell, and Sherry and James Johnston; aunts, Courtney Luttrell and Misty Duncan; his beloved cat, Oreo; and numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 1 p.m., on Friday, December 29, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Joseph Smolich Memorial Fund.
