Josephine "Jo" R. Werdehausen, age 78, of Meta, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Linn Living and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Frankenstein on April 1, 1937, daughter of the late Paul and Martina (Haslag) Gentges. On September 27, 1958, in Loose Creek, Josephine married James B. Werdehausen, who survives at the home.
Josephine was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta and the St. Cecilia Parish quilting group. She served as the head cook for many parish functions.
She was previously employed at Tweedie Shoe Factory in Jefferson City, Langenberg Hat Factory in St. Elizabeth, and also the St. Elizabeth Care Center. Josephine enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, and dancing. She devoted her life to caring for her large family.
In addition to her loving husband, James, she is survived by nine children, Sharon Engelmeyer of Meta, Darlene Luebbering and husband Tony of Wardsville, Linda Bexten and husband Doug of Westphalia, Janice Huhn of Westphalia, Karen Bax and husband Thomas of Rich Fountain, Barb Linnenbrink and husband Art of Taos, Ronnie Werdehausen and wife Marianna of Marys Home, Pam Richter and husband Kevin of Freeburg, and Steven Werdehausen and wife Katy of Meta; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one sister, Anna Renterghem of Wardsville; and three brothers, Edward Gentges of Jefferson City, Arthur Gentges of Jefferson City, and Bernard Gentges of Loose Creek.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin, Henry, and Phillip Gentges; and two sisters, Bernadine Voss and Gertrude Gentges.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Msgr. Donald Lammers will officiate. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, at the church.
