Joyce Irene Witt, age 77, of Brumley, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was born in Henley on February 12, 1940, daughter of the late Ray and Hazel (Deuschle) Forester.
Joyce is a 1958 graduate of Iberia High School. The following year after high school Joyce was united in marriage on July 10, 1959, to Iven Witt. To that union came one daughter, Judy Lynn. Joyce was baptized at Hilltop Church.
Joyce worked for over 20 years at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. Her most important and fulfilling job was being a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed visiting with her family and neighbors always making them feel at home. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed listening to the radio. Joyce liked watching the baby calves in the field and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats and dogs.
In addition to her husband Iven Witt, she is also survived by her daughter, Judy McGowan and husband Frank; granddaughter, Chastity Willers and husband Daniel; grandson, Cody McGowan and fiancé Jessica; two great-grandsons, Maddex Dale McGowan and Cannon William McGowan; soon to arrive great-granddaughter, Chesney Lynn McGowan; brother, Jim Forester; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herbert Forester.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, with Billy Clayborn officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
