Juanita "Kaye" Prater, age 57, of Iberia, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011, at University Hospital in Columbia. She was born in Iberia on December 4, 1953, daughter of Lloyd Dean and Lucille (Humphrey) Curtman.
She was a florist in the Iberia area for several years. Kaye was an active member of the Iberia Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Prater; parents, Dean and Lucille Curtman of Iberia; two daughters, DeAnn Thompson and husband Phillip of Iberia and Gwen Wonder and husband Jake of Crocker; two brothers, Terry Curtman and wife Linda and John Curtman and wife Lori both of Iberia; one sister, Theresa Kelsay and husband Rickey of Iberia; ten grandchildren; Allison Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Olivia Prater, Brooke Wonder, Racheal Wonder, Cayla Wonder, Kaylee Wonder, Jordan Baumgardner, Trey Baumgardner, and Cody Baumgardner; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Thursday, February 17, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Jeff Higbie will officiate. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery near Crocker.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kaye Prater Memorial Fund.
