Julie Elaine Young

Julie Elaine Young, age 67, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born on May 22, 1958, daughter of the late Curt and Darlene (Boyd) Shikles.

Julie had a rewarding career as a nurse and devoted herself to caring for others with compassion and dedication, touching many lives throughout her career. Throughout her career, she was employed at Lake Regional Hospital for 18 years and was later employed at St. Elizabeth Care Center.

In addition to her professional dedication, Julie loved to celebrate life and was truly the life of the party. She will be remembered for bringing joy and laughter to any occasion. She enjoyed taking motorcycle rides and would often refer to herself as “scooter trash”. Julie took pleasure in gathering with friends and family and had a close bond with her dogs. Tequila was her drink of choice, and she cherished making lasting memories with those she loved.

She is survived by her son, David Allen; brother, Jeff Shikles; stepsister, Suzanne Iantosca; cherished niece, Terra Hill; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Curt Shikles and Darlene (Boyd) Lund, her beloved husband, Glen Young, and her grandmother, Mary Boyd.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
