Kenneth "Kenny" Earl McKinnon, age 76, of Brumley, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born in Pulaski County on April 23, 1945, son of the late Earl Roy and Leah Ruth (Curtis) McKinnon. On June 4, 1965, Kenneth was united in marriage to Phyllis Ilene Bilyeu, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2020.
Kenny was employed as a heavy machine operator for many years. He helped with excavating and building Tan-Tar-A Resort in the 1960's. Throughout his long career he worked for several companies including Thompson-McKinnon Excavation, Duncan Construction, and Hodge Excavating.
He enjoyed traveling to Colorado to hunt, fish, and ride horses.
Kenny loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Kaiser.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa McKinnon (Charles Cochran) of Brumley; one son, Cliff McKinnon (Mandy) of Brumley; five grandchildren, Logan Stone, Lindsey Byrd (Jordan), Maycee McKinnon (Kyle), Jeremiah McKinnon, and Denver McKinnon (Hailey); five great-grandchildren, Keetyn Evans, Micah Evans, Hestynn Byrd, Hollynd Byrd, and Tinleigh Brock; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Alma Byrd; sister-in-law, Fern McKinnon; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Aadie Stone; brother, Norman McKinnon, infant brother, John Wayne McKinnon; and two sisters, Ester Chrismon and Gertrude York.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at New Hope Cemetery in Kaiser with Rick Russell officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Hope Cemetery.
