Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Theodore Otto, age 77, of St. Thomas, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.  He was born in Jefferson City, on June 3, 1947, son of the late Lawrence Stephen and Bernadine Ann (Werdehausen) Otto.  On August 9, 1969, in St. Elizabeth, Kenny was united in marriage to Leona Hake, who survives at their home.

Kenny was a graduate of St. Cecilia Catholic School in Meta.  He honorably served in the United States Army until his discharge on July 12, 1968.  Kenny was a life-long farmer who took great pride in his farm.  He possessed a strong work ethic, working for Shryack-Hirst Grocery Company for 25 years, Patio Chef in Meta for 11 years, and Quaker Windows for 9 years, retiring in 2010.  Kenny was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

In addition to his loving wife, Leona Otto, he is also survived by two sons, Kenny (Crista) Otto and Gabe (Vanessa) Otto; daughter, Lynn (Henry) Kleffner; 14 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donnie Otto, Eugene Otto, Dennis Otto, and Glenn Otto; brother-in-law, Gayle Bax; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bernadine Otto; son, Scott Daniel Otto; sister, Marilyn Bax; and sister-in-law, Donna Otto.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Thursday, September 12, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, September 13, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
