Larry George Farnham, age 78, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Iberia on February 10, 1942, son of the late Samuel and Erma (Humphrey) Farnham. On November 30, 1963, in Iberia, Larry was united in marriage to Judy Earp, who survives at their home. They shared almost 57 years together at the time of his passing.
Upon graduating high school from Iberia in 1960 he attended and graduated from the police academy in St. Louis. He served as a police officer in St. Louis until his entry into the United States Navy in September 1963. After completion of his training he was attached to VPI squadron that flew supply missions from Iwakuni, Japan to DaNang, Vietnam. His was the first squadron to receive live fire from the enemy at which time they lost one of their crewmen. At that time, the 6 th Division Marines needed four field soldiers, Larry was chosen to fill one of the positions. He spent the rest of his deployment with the Marines in Vietnam until his separation in September of 1966.
Larry was employed at Fort Leonard Wood for over thirty years in the capacity of ID Center Supervisor, truck driver, and journeyman pipe fitter. Until his retirement in 1997 he worked as a mechanical engineer design technician. Larry enjoyed many outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Larry was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Judy Farnham of the home, he is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Farnham) Williams and husband Anthony of Crocker; son, Scott Farnham and wife Mandy of Iberia; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Alexis Olson (Silas) of Eldon, Ciara Deardeuff (Dalton) of Iberia, Taner Cline, Harmony Cline, and Zachary Cline of Iberia, Liam Williams and Channing Williams of Crocker, Coyer Farnham, Allison (Wade) Farnham, and Addison (Wade) Farnham all of Iberia; four great-grandchildren, Waylon Deardeuff, Walt Deardeuff, Haizlee Jarvis and Lux Olson; brother, Michael Farnham (Sheila) of Iberia; sister-in-law, Karen (Swaggerty) Earp of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Erma Farnham and sister, Wanda Randall; in-laws, George and Jean Earp; and brother-in-law, Steve Earp.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Iberia Cemetery.
