Larry Brice Flaugher, age 74, of Eldon, passed away after a year-long battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born in St. Louis on February 6, 1940, son of the late Brice and Georgia (Ahart) Flaugher. On July 14, 1961, in Ulman, Larry married Margaret Alieksaites, who survives at the home.
Larry worked as a truck driver for 55 years. Throughout his trucking career he logged over four million miles covering local states and coast to coast. Larry loved God, his church, family, friends, gospel music, and vintage cars and tractors.
He was involved in many of the Tuscumbia Community events and the Special Olympics. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, and friend who always loved and provided lots of laughter and created lasting memories. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, Larry is survived by one son, Larry David Flaugher and wife Krista of Eldon; three daughters, Kelly Flaugher, Kim Evans and husband Danny, and Kerry Vollmer and husband Patrick all of Eldon; four grandsons, Kyle, Kalyb, Brett, Clay; one sister, Louise Basler of Macon; and one half-sister, Patsy Keyes of Hartsburg.
Service for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at the First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia. Harold Williams, Ken Gray, and Clyde Leonard will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
