LaRue E. Rush, age 87, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at his home. He was born in Eugene on June 1, 1935, son of the late Roy and Milda (Hager) Rush. On December 1, 1955, at Iberia Church of the Nazarene, LaRue was united in marriage to Rosetta Gardner, who survives at their home.
LaRue devoted his life to his family and took great pride tending to the day-to-day responsibilities on his farm raising chickens, hogs, turkeys, and cattle. In addition to being a life-long farmer, he operated Shady Oaks Feed and Trucking and was co-owner of O&R Poultry Processing Plant for many years. He enjoyed attending cattle auctions and fishing but spending time with his family were his most cherished moments. His wit and humor will live on in generations to come. LaRue was a faithful member of Iberia Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Rosetta Rush, he is also survived by three children, Judy Rush Connell and husband Chris of Eldon, Danny L. Rush and wife Darlene of Tuscumbia, and Donna Rush of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Heather (Dave) Huddleston, Heath Connell, Brian (Jennifer) Rush, Craig Rush, Erin (CJ) Sullivan, Lisa (Trent) Davolt, Danielle (Matt Claypool) Rush, Jordan (Adriann Luckey) Rush, and Keisha (Dawson Jarrett) Rush; 23 great-grandchildren, Laura (Benton) Patterson, David Huddleston, Madison Connell, Brady Connell, Troy Connell, Reagan Connell, Kolby Rush, Kyler Rush, Ansley Rush, J'Lynn Rush, Jenna Rush, Addison Rush, Colten Sullivan, Caitlyn Sullivan, Easton Sullivan, Cason Sullivan, Zachary Davolt, Tyson Davolt, Jaxon Davolt, Hayden Claypool, Preston Claypool, Landon Claypool, and Miley Rush; two great-great grandchildren, Carson Patterson, and Rylan Rush; four brothers, Gerald (Ottolene) Rush, Kenneth Rush, Marvin Rush, and Sammy Rush; sister-in-law, Sharron Rush; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob Rush and Harry Rush, and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rush, Margaret Rush, and Judy Rush.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, at Iberia Church of the Nazarene, 201 W. Main Street, Iberia, MO 65486, with Pastor Henry Shelley and Robbie Cane officiating. Interment will be held in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
