Lawrence Frank Rehagen, age 86, of St. Elizabeth, died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born in St. Elizabeth on April 24, 1920, son of Frank George and Mary (Boeckman) Rehagen. On November 9, 1946, in St. Elizabeth, he was married to Capitola Juanita (Irwin) Otto, who preceded him in death on August 4, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was awarded six Bronze Stars. He was employed at the MFA Exchange and retired from the Langenberg Hat Factory, both in St. Elizabeth. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion #0545 in St. Elizabeth. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph's Sodality. He served for many years as a school board member for St. Elizabeth School District and as a volunteer at the St. Elizabeth Care Center.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Rehagen and wife, Susan of Holts Summit and Leroy Rehagen and wife, Gail of St. Elizabeth; one daughter, Carolyn Kliethermes and husband, Jerome of Eldon; one sister, Gertrude Kirkweg of St. Elizabeth; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roman and Herman Rehagen; and one great-granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Community Center with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
