Lawrence "Dick" Rehagen, age 73, of Meta, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor and Care Center. He was born in Meta on March 5, 1943, son of the late George and Catherine (Scheulen) Rehagen. On September 7, 1968 in Meta, Dick married Dorothy A. Jaegers, who survives at the home.
Dick was a man who never knew a stranger and loved to be around people, especially his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and tending to his farm on his beloved John Deere tractor.
Dick worked as a carpenter for 37 years, employed with various construction companies over the years. Before Dick's health worsened and forced him to retire, his final employment was with Ken Otke's Construction.
Dick was a member of the NRA, Meta Citizen's Civic League, and St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.
In addition to his loving and faithful wife, Dorothy, he is also survived by his twin sister, Marjorie Herigon of Westphalia; three sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Libbert (Harold), Darlene Bock (Eddie), and Wanda Sturtz (David); and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marilyn Nilges; two brothers-in-law, August Nilges and Leonard Herigon; one brother, Bernard Rehagen; one nephew, Roger Herigon; father-in-law, Norman Jaegers; and mother-in-law, Delphine Jaegers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 1, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Rev. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Lawrence "Dick" Rehagen Memorial Fund.
