December 14, 1939 – August 29, 2025
Leland Elmer Humphrey, age 85, of Eldon, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Eldon. He was born in Granite City, Illinois on December 14, 1939, son of the late Elmer "Butter" Humphrey and Jewell (Clark) Humphrey Winters. On May 23, 1959, Leland was united in marriage to Alice Marie Dake, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2023.
A devoted member of Tuscumbia First Assembly of God Church, Leland served faithfully as a Deacon and was known for his deep faith and loving spirit. Leland spent 38 dedicated years as Superintendent at Central Bridge Company and owned and operated Simmental Humphrey Farms. He took great pride in raising and showing his Simmental cattle, as well as in breeding Shih Tzu dogs. He had a passion for sharing his love of playing guitar and singing with those around him.
He is survived by four daughters, Janet (Rex) Hibler, Patty (Greg) Baquet, Tammy (Roger) Kirkweg, and Vicky Burks; one son, Brent (Meg) Humphrey; 14 grandchildren, Austin Hibler, Taylor Hibler, Grant Baquet, Zachary Baquet, Brock Baquet, Sara Beth Beddoe, Adrain Kirkweg, Katie Imler, Jacob Kirkweg, Natasha Schulte, Derek Burks, Dylan Humphrey, Presley Humphrey, and Harper Humphrey; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Jackie (Judy) Dake; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Alice Humphrey, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Burks; grandson, Jeremiah Baquet; brother, Larry Humphrey and wife, Connie; and sister, Alberta Rains and husband, Kenny.
Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1:30 p.m., with a service following at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, at Tuscumbia First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Tim Drake officiating. Interment will be held at Dake Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Dake Cemetery or Tuscumbia First Assembly of God Church.
