Lena M. Shelton, age 87, of Iberia, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born in Iberia on April 27, 1925, daughter of the late Roscoe and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Sloan) Shackelford. On May 3, 1947, in Iberia, Lena married Paul Gene Shelton, who survives at the home.
Lena and her husband Paul owned and operated Shelton Sales from 1959 to 1983. They also owned Shelton's Dairy Bar which later became Shelton's Restaurant.
Lena enjoyed traveling the world with her husband to Africa, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and especially their trips to south Texas. Later in life she enjoyed watching birds.
Lena was a member of Iberia Baptist Church.
She is also survived by one son, Randy Shelton of Iberia; one daughter, Yolanda Graham and husband Larry of Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Shane Shelton of Jefferson City, Shawn Shelton of Camdenton, Amber Graham of Jefferson City, and Dalton Graham of Jefferson City; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Dorsey Shackelford; and one niece, Kathy Jeffries of Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Shackelford, Withrow Shackelford, Roy Shackelford, and Raymond Shackelford.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Warren Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the funeral home.
