Leo Lawrence Buechter, age 69, of Brumley, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born on February 21, 1954, son of the late Joseph and Anna Marie (Kleffner) Buechter. On June 20, 1975, Leo was united in marriage to Judy Plemmons, and to this union a son, Leon Dale Buechter, was born.
Leo enjoyed deer hunting every season and was lucky enough to get a deer each season. He loved fishing, especially trout fishing, never missing opening day at Bennett Springs for the last 45 years and always caught his limit. Leo loved tinkering outside with his tractor and mowers, tending to his vegetable garden, and barbecuing with his family. His favorite pastime was spending time with his loving wife and son.
Leo worked at Lake Regional Hospital for 42 years before retiring in 2020.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Buechter of Brumley, son, Leon Dale Buechter of Brumley; four brothers, Hank Buechter of Lake Ozark, Joe (Genise) Buechter of St. Anthony, Billy (Karen) Buechter of Iberia, and Paul Buechter of St. Anthony; six sisters, JoAnn (Billy) Bauer of Dixon, Margie (James) Kempker of Eugene, Rosie (Steve) Edwards of Ulman, Ronnie Buechter of Iberia, Alice (Kenny) Newhart of Iberia, and Hilda (Kevin) Workman of Iberia; two special nieces, Lisa Plemmons of Camdenton and Jennifer Stark of Kaiser; two brothers-in-law, Steve (Bonnie) Plemmons of Brumley and Jerry Olten of Ulman; sister-in-law, Sue Plemmons of Ewing; two canine companions, Abby and Maggie; and numerous family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three nephews, Eddie Joe, Gene Bauer, and David Plemmons; sister-in-law, Cheryl Buechter; father and mother in-law, Dale and Ruby Plemmons; sister-in-law, Gloria Olten; and brother-in-law, Roger Plemmons.
Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., with service immediately following at 1 p.m., on Friday, December 8, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Mike Young officiating. Interment will be held in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley.
