Leo A. Luebbert, age 87, of Brinktown and Jefferson City, died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born in Brinktown on February 4, 1920, son of Philip S. and Katherine (Bauer) Luebbert. On October 6, 1945, in St. Anthony, he was married to Celia Catherine Buechter, who survives at the home.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for the general post office in Kansas City for 29 years retiring in 1981. After retirement he and his wife returned to Brinktown. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Brinktown and the Brinktown American Legion.
Other survivors include two sons, Philip Luebbert of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut, and David Luebbert of Independence; three daughters, Carol Barrow of Loveland, Colorado, Annette Newell of Belton, and Lisa Luebbert of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Clara Gloriot of Miami, Florida; three brothers, Ben Luebbert of St. Peters, Dr. Charles Luebbert of Tipton, and Dr. William Luebbert of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marilyn Meyer; one brother, Edward Luebbert; and three sisters, Anna Rowden, Frances Hydro, and Gertrude Bohres.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Brinktown. Msgr. Marion Makarewicz will officiate. Interment will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
