Leonard H. "Bud" Shackelford, age 92, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Truman Care Center in Kansas City. He was born in Tuscumbia on June 12, 1920, son of the late Ernest and Easter (Barnhart) Shackelford. On November 1, 1947, in Tuscumbia, Leonard married Faye Eva Bilyeu, who preceded him in death on April 4, 2004.
Leonard served in the United States Navy during World War II from October 29, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 8, 1945. After the war, Leonard worked for General Motors until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the U.A.W. and Victory Bible Way Fellowship Church near Tuscumbia.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Shackelford and wife Helen of Blue Springs and John Shackelford and wife Kathy of Brookhaven, Mississippi; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Shackelford of Tuscumbia; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Workman of Montgomery City.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Shackelford; one sister, Mary Boyd; half-sister, Gladis Lucas; and one great-great-grandchild, Adler Robinson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Saturday, February 16, at Victory Bible Way Fellowship Church near Tuscumbia. Ed Luebbering will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Bilyeu Cemetery near St. Elizabeth.
