Leroy Blankenship, age 71, of Iberia, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006. He was born in Iberia on June 24, 1935, son of William Guy and Mattie Ophelia (Rowden) Blankenship, both deceased. On June 24, 1956, in Adams, Kansas, he was married to Edna Mae Woodard, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran serving 19 months in Germany. He worked in the well drilling industry for 30 years and thoroughly enjoyed his work. He and his wife owned and operated Triangle Well Drilling for 18 years. He enjoyed playing cards and camping. He was a member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene.

Other survivors include one brother, Dallis Dean Blankenship and wife, Kathy of Iberia; one sister, Linda Wieberg and husband, Tony of St. Anthony; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, at the Iberia Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
