Obituary

Letha Muriel Newhart, age 86, of Eldon, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at her home. She was born in Pulaski County near Dixon on February 21, 1921, daughter of William Dewey and Stella May (Bilyeu) Allen. On June 30, 1937, in Vienna, she was married to Arba Harold Newhart, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1996.

Survivors include five daughters, Sandy Bond, Patty Rowden, Betty Pemberton, Lois Farmer, and Linda Patterson; four sons, Danny Newhart, Randy Newhart, Garry Newhart, and Dale Newhart; two brothers, Kenneth Allen and Gene Allen; one sister, Catherine Lerdahl; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Muriel lived on a farm near Iberia with her husband Harold for many years before moving to Eldon. She was baptized as a teenager and was a member of Iberia First Christian Church and the Ninth Street Christian Church of Eldon.

She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be missed by many.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Pastor Chris Reynolds officiating and Rob Patterson assisting. Interment will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon and from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
