Lila Jean McDowell, age 67, of Eldon, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born in Tuscumbia on November 4, 1952, daughter of the late Otto and Irene (Witt) McDowell.

Lila had a deep affection for dogs, especially senior dogs, and devoted her life to rescuing and caring for dogs in need. She worked for the State of Missouri for over 30 years retiring in 1995. Lila attended Eldon Church of Christ.

She is survived by one sister, Lori Emmons of Nixa; brother, James McDowell and wife Betty of Eldon; two nephews, Russell and Bradley McDowell; two nieces, Krissy Emmons and Heidi Baker; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Saturday, November 16, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
