Lillie Lucille Salinas, age 95, of Tuscumbia formerly of Kansas City, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Lawrence County, Missouri, on January 5, 1916, daughter of the late Barney Clinton and Addie Florence (Montgomery) Smith. Lillie married Sam Meek, who preceded her in death and later married Raymond Salinas, who also preceded her in death in 1980.
She was raised in Verona, Missouri, where she attended high school. During high school she played basketball and was president of Art Guild. She was a registered nurse. Her hobby was art and she painted with water color. Lillie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aurora.
She is survived by four children; Dennis Meek of Kansas City, Missouri, Beverly Keeth of Tuscumbia, Larry Meek of Jefferson City, and Brenda Washam of Blue Springs, Missouri; one stepson, Jay Boyd Brown of Pierce City, Missouri; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one special niece, Imogene Cornell of Eldon; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter; Barbara Lou Meek; one sister, Linnie Jones; and three brothers, Lee Smith, Sam Smith, and Charley Smith.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Jim Dowdy will officiate. Interment will be in Scott Cemetery near Tuscumbia.
