Linda Sue Humphrey-Cheatum, of Iberia, formerly of Prattville, Alabama, died Monday, February 27, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born in Crocker on December 7, 1951, a daughter of Vasca and Dorthy Edna (Wilson) Humphrey. On October 30, 1980, in Anchorage, Alaska, she was married to Sam E. Cheatum, who survives at the home.
She was a member of and was baptized at Brays Advent Christian Church. She served in the United States Air Force for 22 years reaching the rank of Master Sergeant and received three Air Force commendation medals.
Others who survive her include: her mother, Edna Humphrey of Iberia; one son, Craig Cheatum and wife Erica of Atascadero, California; two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Jordyn Cheatum; four sisters, Birdene Cochran of Brumley, Barbara Harrison of Iberia, Debra Plemmons of Iberia and Vanessa Duckworth of Gravois Mill; one brother, Steven Humphrey of Monett; several nieces and nephews, two great nephews and two special friends, Nancy and Rhuel Benton of Edgar Springs.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia. Bro. Roy Gilkey will officiate.
