Loretta E. Baldwin, age 73, of Jefferson City, formerly of Iberia, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born in Edsel, Kentucky, on January 27, 1933, daughter of Henry and Thelma (Edwards) Jenkins. On September 26, 1954, in Sutherlin, Oregon, she was married to Aaron Alvin Baldwin, who survives at the home.
She served in the Army Medical Corps in 1951 and 1952. She graduated from Solano Community College in 1973, where she received her nursing degree. She enlisted in the Air Force Reserves in 1973 and retired on January 27, 1993, as Chief Master Sergeant. Her last active duty was at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, serving as a nursing supervisor during Desert Storm. She was a member of the Missouri Nursing Association, the Iberia American Legion Post 105, the Iberia VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6167, and the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She was a designated American Red Cross Nurse. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony.
Other survivors include three daughters, Joyce Clark of Tuscumbia, Teresa Raymond of Jefferson City, and Tabitha Baldwin of Fulton; one brother, Sam Jenkins of Columbia Station, Ohio; two sisters, Cozetta Cox of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Phyllis Lewis of West Portsmouth, Ohio; three grandchildren, Emma Raymond, David Raymond, and Mary Beth Clark all of Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Baldwin; and one brother, Douglas Jenkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Madden Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the St. Anthony Parish Hall with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. and a vigil service conducted by the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
