Louie Edgar Phillips, age 83, of Brumley passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at his home. He was born in Brumley on November 25, 1926, son of the late Clarence and Delcie (Godfrey) Phillips.
He was a WWII veteran. Louie worked for Santa Fe Drilling Company in the oil fields in Baheran, South Iran, and operated the Brumley Tavern for 10 years. He loved raising his cattle on the farm, having his garden each year, and hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two children, Paul Phillips of Mabelvale, Arkansas, and Patricia Vermundson of Tipton; one step-son, Tyler Blagden of Linn Creek; five grandchildren, Stacy Eden, Stephanie Phillips-Kelly of Camdenton, Andrew Phillips of West Point, New York, Alisha Wiecken of North Pole, Alaska, and Alexa Wittrock of Tipton; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Asa; many friends and family; and his companion, Ingrid Daugherty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; three brothers, Ike, Elvin, and Clarence "Pat" Phillips; and three wives, Genevieve Phillips, Jennifer Phillips, and Juanita Phillips.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Robinett Cemetery near Brumley.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at the funeral home.
