Louis John Brandt, age 87, of Meta, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Meta on June 24, 1938, son of the late Frank and Bernadine (Hake) Brandt.

Louis attended St. Cecilia School in Meta. A lifelong farmer, he was also a timber cutter and sold and serviced chainsaws. He found joy in life’s simple blessings - with family, good friends, and rebuilding tractors.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Clarkston; one niece, Heather Luebbert; one nephew, Heath Clarkston all of Jefferson City; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernadine Brandt; sister, Catherine Gray; brother, Hubert Brandt; and his niece, Gloria Sauer.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at St. Thomas Cemetery in St. Thomas.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Thomas Cemetery Association for the maintenance fund.
