Louis Anton Toebben, age 83, of Jefferson City, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was born in Jefferson City, on April 4, 1943, a son of the late Edwin Anton and Veronica Theresa (Schnieders) Toebben. On February 8, 1964, in Taos, Louis was united in marriage to Delphine Emma (Kirkweg) Toebben, who preceded him in death on May 2, 2026.
Louis attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. He owned and operated Toebben Construction Company for several years. He later retired from Braun Plastering and Drywall after 30 years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union #945. He was very proud of his construction career, building many homes and working on many large buildings in the area.
Louis found his greatest joy in the people and places he loved most. He had a deep love for the outdoors and felt especially at peace at his river lot, running trotlines, the time he spent tending to the family farm, gardening, raising animals, and using his carpentry talents on the many projects he was always ready to build.
Louis was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a founding member of the Taos Knights of Columbus (since 1968) and a Fourth Degree member.
