Louise Ellen (Crotchett) Buckley, age 91, of Iberia, passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born in Creighton, Cass County, Missouri on December 20, 1924, daughter of the late William Wallace and Nellie Margaret (Burge) Crotchett. On February 14, 1943, in Creighton, Louise married Roger Parry Buckley, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Louise graduated from Creighton High School in Creighton in 1941. Following graduation she worked as a news reporter for the Creighton Banner. During her adult life, while raising her family, she worked as a writer and editor for several agricultural magazines in Kansas, Ohio, and Texas.

She was a member of the First Christian Church for many years and in 1980 Louise was baptized in the Waller Baptist Church in Waller, TX.

Her favorite pastimes included sewing and playing the organ. She was an excellent seamstress and she taught several of her granddaughters how to sew.

She is survived by two children, Larry Buckley and wife Cathy of Iberia and Paula (Buckley) Bright and husband Bob of Sewickley, PA; seven grandchildren, Jared Buckley (Michelle) of McKinney, TX, Joel Buckley (Amy) of McKinney, TX, Jason Williams (Amy) of McKinney, TX, Joanna Buckley Kuecker (Trent) of Concordia, Abigail Bright Willie (Jon) of Atlanta, GA, Emily Bright Hays (Pete) of Arvada, CO, and Nathan Bright (Kerri) of New York City, NY; 15 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Arlen Crotchett and wife Joyce of Brandon, MS.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Nellie, in 1996, her father, Wallace, in 1999, and her brother, Dennis, in 1944

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
