Obituary

Lucille I. Dickneite, age 77, of St. Elizabeth, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born in Miller County on April 13, 1930, daughter of John and Mary (Hake) Berhorst. On November 24, 1951, in Mary's Home, she was married to Norbert Dickneite, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 18, 1979.

She had worked as a nurse at Humphreys Hospital in Tuscumbia and for Still Hospital in Jefferson City until 1969. She was a star route mail carrier with her husband until his death. She drove a school bus for the St. Elizabeth School District. In 1979 she went to work for Langenberg Hat Factory in St. Elizabeth and retired in 1995. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. She was active in the community and church and volunteered at the St. Elizabeth Care Center. She loved spending time with her granddaughters.

Survivors include one son, Norbert Dickneite, Jr. and wife, Carol of St. Elizabeth; three granddaughters, Jamie, Jenna, and Jada Dickneite all of St. Elizabeth; one brother-in-law, Alfred Dickneite, Sr. and wife, Irene of St. Elizabeth; one sister-in-law, Louise Lepper of St. Elizabeth; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Herbert Berhorst, one sister, Lorraine Vogel; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Lepper.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the St. Elizabeth Community Center with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
